Tax Reporting Guide

In March, you may receive a number of T3/Relevé 16 and T5013/T5013A/Relevé 15 mailings. Use your “Important Information Regarding Outstanding Tax Documents” (mailed with your T5 in February) to check them off as they arrive. Please note that although the Federal Government changed issuer deadlines for income trusts (T3s) and publicly-held limited partnership units (T5013s) last year, some issuers still filed late. We expect the 2008 tax year to have better adherence to the new February 28 disclosure deadline, given that the rule has been in place for over a year. If issuers file late or file an amendment there is the possibility of new or amended T3 and T5013 tax slips being mailed into mid April. Also, you may not receive T5013s related to any privately-held limited partnership units because the government made no changes to their reporting deadlines (still March 31).
