  • 1901: Established as Dominion Securities Corporation Limited in Toronto. Early business focused on government and municipal bonds but greatly expanded during the First World War with war bonds.
  • 1937: The stock trading department was added to complete the firm’s all-around investment capabilities.
  • 1950s: Branches were operating in all the principal cities of Canada.
  • 1984: Dominion Securities grew through strategic acquisitions including Pitfield, Mackay, Ross Limited.
  • 1988: Royal Bank acquired 67% of Dominion Securities Inc.
  • 1989: Dominion Securities grew through strategic acquisitions including Pemberton Willoughby Investment Corporation.
  • 1996: Dominion Securities acquired Richardson Greenshields of Canada Ltd.
  • 1996: RBC Royal Bank obtained 100% ownership of Dominion Securities Inc.
  • 2001: Expanded North American presence with the acquisition of U.S.-based investment firms Dain Rauscher and Tucker Anthony Sutro & Co.
  • Present Day: Serves the wealth management needs of more than 400,000 clients across Canada and around the world, with over $150 billion in assets under administration.
